These witch finger pretzel rods are a fun and easy Halloween treat that combines crunchy pretzels, creamy white chocolate, and almond fingernails for a spooky yet delicious snack. Perfect for parties or cozy movie nights, they come together in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package pretzel rods (about 12–16 rods)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
  • 12–16 whole almonds (raw or roasted, unsalted)
  • Green gel food coloring (optional)
  • Red sanding sugar or red decorating gel (for decoration)
  • Black decorating gel (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay out pretzel rods on a separate plate. Count out one almond for each pretzel rod.
  2. Melt the white chocolate. Place white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth (about 90 seconds total). If using green food coloring, add a tiny dab of green gel after melting and stir until even.
  3. Dip the pretzel rods. Hold a pretzel rod by one end. Dip the other end into the melted white chocolate, about two-thirds of the way up. Let excess drip off. Place on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Attach the almond fingernail. While chocolate is still wet, press a whole almond onto the tip of the pretzel with the pointy end facing outward. Press gently so it sticks.
  5. Create the knuckle lines. Use a toothpick to gently drag 3-4 curved lines across the chocolate coating just below the almond to create knuckles.
  6. Add spooky details. Use a toothpick to spread a tiny bit of red sanding sugar or red gel just below the almond for a ‘cut’ fingertip. Use black decorating gel to draw small lines over the knuckle indentations.
  7. Let them set. Place baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes until chocolate is completely firm.
  8. Finish and serve. Carefully lift pretzel rods off parchment paper. Arrange on a serving platter with almond nails pointing outward.

Notes

For best results, let pretzel rods sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before dipping to prevent chocolate cracking. If using regular white chocolate chips instead of melting wafers, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to help them melt smoothly. For a nut-free version, skip the almond or use a candy corn for the nail. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
