These spooky mummy pigs in a blanket are a quick and easy Halloween treat made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. Perfect for last-minute parties, they’re cute, delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Open the can of crescent rolls and separate the dough into triangles. Keep the dough cold.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide (4-5 strips per triangle).
  5. Take one hot dog and start wrapping the dough strips around it, starting at one end and working to the other, overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap about halfway up for the eyes (size of a nickel). Do not wrap too tightly.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dog on the prepared baking sheet. Leave about an inch between each mummy.
  7. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs.
  8. If using an egg wash, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush gently over the dough strips.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through. Start checking at 12 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  11. While cooling, dip a toothpick in yellow mustard and dab two small dots in the gap for eyes.
  12. Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent tearing. For best results, add mustard eyes after baking. You can assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate. For air fryer, cook at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent dough or puff pastry. For vegetarian, use plant-based hot dogs or cheese sticks.
