A vibrant and festive Halloween fruit platter featuring candy corn-inspired fruit skewers made with honeydew, pineapple, and mandarin oranges. Perfect for parties, this healthy treat is quick to assemble and naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fresh pineapple, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 firm ripe bananas, cut into 1-inch rounds
  • 2 cans mandarin oranges, drained well (or fresh clementines, separated)
  • 1 honeydew melon, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 Granny Smith or Fuji apples, cut into chunks and tossed with lemon juice
  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup blackberries, whole
  • 20–30 wooden skewers (6-inch size)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for preventing browning)
  • Pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. Cut pineapple into 1-inch chunks, bananas into 1-inch rounds, and apples into similar-sized pieces. Toss apple pieces immediately in a bowl with a splash of lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Drain canned mandarin oranges in a colander and let sit for a few minutes. Spread on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess moisture.
  3. Assemble candy corn skewers: Thread a piece of honeydew or banana onto a wooden skewer first (white tip), followed by a piece of pineapple (yellow middle), and finish with a mandarin orange segment (orange bottom). Push together gently. Repeat to make 15-30 skewers.
  4. Arrange the fruit tray: Place a large platter on the counter. Fan out the candy corn skewers in a sunburst pattern or line them up in rows. Scatter remaining fruit pieces around the skewers—strawberries cut side up, blackberries clustered in groups of three, apple chunks in empty spaces.
  5. Optional: Use a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes from honeydew or pineapple and place around the tray. Add whole grapes to fill gaps. For a spooky touch, arrange blackberries in a line to look like a trail of spiders.
  6. Check for bare spots and fill with remaining fruit. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

Assemble skewers no more than 2-3 hours before serving. For best results, use a 2:1 ratio of honeydew to banana for the white sections to avoid squishing. Dip banana rounds in lemon water for 10 seconds to prevent browning. Leave about an inch of bare skewer at the bottom for easy handling. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
