These vibrant, layered jello shots are a quick and easy crowd-pleaser perfect for celebrations like the Fourth of July. Featuring distinct red, white, and blue layers with balanced sweet and boozy flavors, they add festive flair to any party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin (Jell-O or similar)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka (or substitute with water for non-alcoholic)
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk (adds creamy texture)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) vodka (or water)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka (or water)

Instructions

  1. Red Layer: In a bowl, combine the strawberry gelatin powder with 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and mix well. Pour the mixture into your shot glasses, filling each about one-third full. Refrigerate for 25-30 minutes or until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. White Layer: While the red layer chills, bloom unflavored gelatin by sprinkling it over ½ cup (120 ml) cold water. Let sit for 5 minutes. In a separate bowl, heat ½ cup (120 ml) boiling water and stir in the bloomed gelatin until dissolved. Add sweetened condensed milk and vodka, stirring until smooth. Carefully spoon or pour this white mixture over the red layer once it’s tacky to the touch. Refrigerate another 25-30 minutes until set but still slightly sticky.
  3. Blue Layer: Mix the blue raspberry gelatin with 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and stir. Gently pour the blue layer over the white layer, ideally by pouring over the back of a spoon to prevent mixing. Chill for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.
  4. Serve: Once fully set, these festive jello shots are ready to enjoy. Keep refrigerated until serving.

Notes

Wait for each layer to become tacky but not fully firm before adding the next to prevent mixing. Use the back of a spoon to gently pour layers. Bloom unflavored gelatin for the white layer to avoid lumps. Reduce vodka or increase water if alcohol taste is too strong. Store refrigerated up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
