These mummy meatball sliders are the easiest Halloween dinner you’ll make all season. Frozen meatballs, store-bought pizza dough, and string cheese come together in under 30 minutes for a fun, crowd-pleasing meal that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2430 frozen fully cooked meatballs (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 810 string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • 48 small candy eyes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Thaw the meatballs: Place them on a plate and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. They should be slightly thawed but still cold in the center.
  3. Prepare the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. Use a pizza cutter to slice it into 24-30 thin strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Cut the string cheese: Unwrap each cheese stick and slice it lengthwise into 4 thin strips. You should have about 32-40 cheese strips total.
  5. Wrap the meatballs: Take one meatball and wrap 2-3 cheese strips around it, leaving a small gap for the eyes. Then take 2-3 dough strips and wrap them around the cheese-covered meatball, slightly overlapping the strips. Leave a tiny opening for the face. Press the ends of the dough gently to seal. Place the wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with all the meatballs, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Apply the egg wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the egg wash over each mummy. Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning evenly over the tops.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Add the eyes: Let the sliders cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Using tweezers or your fingers, gently press two candy eyes into the cheese gap on each mummy.
  9. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For best results, keep the string cheese cold until ready to use. Add candy eyes after baking while the cheese is still warm and sticky. If you don’t have a pastry brush, use a spoon to drizzle the egg wash. Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispness.
