This easy copycat Starbucks pumpkin cream cold foam coffee is made with real pumpkin puree, heavy cream, and warm spices for a velvety, budget-friendly fall drink that comes together in under five minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (dark roast recommended)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill glass)
  • 2 tablespoons milk of choice (optional, for creamier base)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (whole milk or oat milk)
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pie filling)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure vanilla preferred)
  • For homemade pumpkin pie spice (optional): 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee and let it cool slightly. Fill your glass with ice cubes. If using hot coffee over ice, let the coffee cool for about 5 minutes first.
  2. Combine the cold foam ingredients in a small bowl or jar: cold heavy cream, milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. Whisk briefly to break up the pumpkin puree.
  3. Froth the mixture using a milk frother for 30 to 45 seconds until thick and pourable, similar to melted ice cream. It should hold soft peaks but still flow off a spoon.
  4. Pour the brewed coffee over the ice in your glass. If adding milk to the coffee base, pour it in now and stir gently.
  5. Layer the cold foam on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon so it settles on top of the coffee.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle a pinch of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon on top of the foam.
  7. Serve immediately. Drink within 15 minutes for best texture.

Notes

For best results, use cold heavy cream straight from the refrigerator. Do not over-froth; stop when the mixture resembles thick pancake batter. Strain pumpkin puree through a fine-mesh sieve for a smoother foam. Leftover foam can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and re-frothed briefly before use.
