This easy homemade pumpkin spice syrup comes together with just three pantry staples in under 15 minutes. Perfect for coffee, pancakes, cocktails, and more, it’s a versatile fall flavor upgrade that’s far better than store-bought.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently with a whisk until the sugar starts to dissolve, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Once the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is gently simmering, sprinkle in the pumpkin pie spice. Whisk continuously for about 30 seconds to ensure there are no lumps.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let the syrup gently simmer for 5-7 minutes. Do not let it boil vigorously. Stir occasionally to prevent the spice from settling.
  4. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 10-15 minutes. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  5. Optional: Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a glass jar for a perfectly smooth syrup.
  6. Seal the jar and let it cool completely before refrigerating. Shake well before each use.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the syrup sit overnight before using. If the syrup crystallizes, add a tablespoon of water and gently reheat, stirring until crystals dissolve. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
