This recipe delivers crispy, juicy chicken thighs with a bold herb seasoning, cooked quickly and easily in an air fryer for a fuss-free, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2 pounds / 900g)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, crushed dried rosemary, dried thyme, paprika, salt, black pepper, and lemon zest. Mix well.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken thighs. Sprinkle the herb seasoning mix evenly and toss to coat all sides.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place chicken thighs skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 9-10 minutes.
  6. Flip the chicken thighs and cook for another 9-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden and crispy.
  7. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

Notes

Patting the chicken dry before seasoning is key for crispiness. Flip the chicken halfway through cooking for even browning. If you forget to preheat the air fryer, add a couple of extra minutes to cooking time. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure proper air circulation. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
