A stunning and easy-to-assemble charcuterie board featuring an ombre effect with purple and gold themed ingredients, perfect for graduation parties and festive celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Concord grapes, fresh and washed
  • Blackberries
  • Purple cauliflower florets, lightly steamed
  • Blueberry jam or preserve
  • Lavender honey (optional)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, sliced or cubed
  • Golden crackers or breadsticks (e.g., Carr’s Table Water Crackers)
  • Marcona almonds, lightly salted and roasted
  • Dried apricots or golden raisins
  • Honeycomb pieces (optional)
  • Soft goat cheese or brie
  • Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary
  • Edible gold leaf or gold dust (optional)
  • Purple and gold paper napkins or party picks

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients (10-15 minutes): Wash and dry grapes, blackberries, and herbs thoroughly. Slice the cheddar and any semi-soft cheeses into bite-sized pieces. Lightly steam the purple cauliflower florets until just tender but still crisp—about 3 minutes—then cool completely.
  2. Arrange the purple ombre section (10 minutes): Start on one side of your board with the darkest purple fruits—Concord grapes and blackberries. Cluster them in small bunches for visual impact. Next, add the steamed purple cauliflower, spacing it to create a gradient effect. Place small bowls filled with blueberry jam and lavender honey nearby for dipping or drizzling.
  3. Create the gold ombre section (10 minutes): On the opposite side, lay down your sharp cheddar slices and golden crackers. Scatter Marcona almonds and dried apricots to add texture and pops of gold. If you have honeycomb pieces, arrange them carefully near the cheese for guests to pair flavors. Use small bowls for any additional honey or spreads.
  4. Bridge the colors (5 minutes): In the middle section, place soft goat cheese or brie slices to transition between purple and gold smoothly. Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs to add a fresh aroma and a pop of green.
  5. Final touches (5 minutes): Add edible gold leaf or dust to some cheese slices or nuts for a subtle shimmer. Scatter a few purple and gold party picks or napkins around the board to tie the theme together visually.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Place the board on your party table and watch it disappear fast! Have extra crackers and grapes on hand to refill as needed.

Notes

Prepare fruits and cheeses separately and assemble the board about 30 minutes before guests arrive to keep everything fresh. For dairy-free versions, substitute cheeses with plant-based alternatives. If purple cauliflower is unavailable, use regular cauliflower with purple food coloring or substitute with purple grapes or blackberries. Keep cold items chilled and avoid overcrowding the board for best presentation.
