A vibrant and refreshing margarita punch bowl combining fresh watermelon, tequila, lime, and a spicy Tajín salt rim, perfect for summer parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and deseeded
  • 1 ½ cups tequila blanco
  • ¾ cup triple sec or Cointreau
  • ¾ cup fresh lime juice (about 67 limes)
  • ¼ cup agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups club soda or sparkling water
  • Tajín seasoning for rimming glasses
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves and lime wedges for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed watermelon in a blender and puree until smooth. For a pulp-free drink, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl or pitcher. Set aside.
  2. In a large punch bowl, combine the watermelon puree, tequila blanco, triple sec, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and chili powder if using. Stir gently to blend all flavors.
  3. Just before serving, pour in the club soda or sparkling water and add plenty of ice cubes to chill the punch without diluting it too much.
  4. Spread Tajín seasoning on a small plate. Rub the rim of each glass with a lime wedge, then dip the rim into the Tajín to coat evenly.
  5. Float fresh mint leaves and lime wedges in the punch bowl for color and aroma. Ladle the punch into the rimmed glasses and serve.

Notes

If punch tastes too tart, add more agave syrup; if too sweet, add extra lime juice. Add sparkling water last to keep fizz. Prepare watermelon puree and lime juice ahead to save time. Tajín salt rim is essential for flavor and texture. For non-alcoholic version, replace tequila and triple sec with sparkling water and fresh orange juice.
